Lamb chops on the barbie? A leg of lamb slow roasted in the oven? Decadent Frenched lamb racks for a gourmet end to the year? Since the launch of its online butchery in September, Blue Sky Butchery has had orders flood in from all over New Zealand, with its premium lamb making its way to customers’ doorsteps six days a week.
Now, Blue Sky Butchery is encouraging customers to think ahead to Christmas dinner to plan which decadent cuts of tender lamb will be on the table, to avoid missing out on their favourites.
In the two months since its launch from Blue Sky Pastures, the online butchery had diligently been working with customers to package up morsels of the tender red meat, a favourite among Kiwis.
Blue Sky Pastures transformation manager Ben Nally said customer feedback had been positive and constructive, and he was thankful for the number of people who had taken the time to seek out contact to thank Blue Sky for the service.
“Delivery times have been really good nationwide, and the product appearance on arrival has been great too,” he said.
“We’ve had a lot of people give us positive feedback about the taste of the lamb and its tenderness, which is testament to not only how the lamb is sourced, but to its processing and temperature controls throughout the fulfilment process.”
With the silly season upon us and Christmas functions full steam ahead, Nally had noticed Kiwis seemed to favour lamb racks as their go-to for festive meals.
“Hands down the lamb racks have been the favourite, but the lamb chops are close behind – definitely a staple among Kiwi dinners and great for summer barbeques,” he said.
Looking ahead, there were plans for the online butchery to improve and evolve to meet customer needs and adapt to feedback. In the coming months, more products would be added to the shop, including smallgoods, different types of lamb and the introduction of a super-premium lamb product.
The $80 minimum purchase amount would also be removed, making access to these premium lamb products more accessible, Nally said.
With Christmas on our doorstep, promotions for Blue Sky’s lamb were on the way and Nally encouraged everyone to check the Facebook and Instagram pages regularly to see what they could get their hands on.
“Keep a close eye on our social media channels for giveaways and discount codes – we have a lot planned to celebrate the festive season,” Nally said.
